Today is Christmas Eve. The last day of the Cocos2D Linkvent Calendar. I’d like to make you a gift, but I can’t give to all of you, so it’s going to involve a little competition.

This is your chance to win an unsuspected present: the print edition of my book. And signed. With a dedication of your choosing. Shipping and handling is on me, and I’ll send it worldwide. As long as you give me the correct address it should get there in between a couple days or a few weeks, hopefully in January.

I have five copies to spare, so there will be five winners.

How do I win the book?

It’s simple. Make a comment on this post. Tell me why you would like the book sent to you.

Make sure to enter a valid e-mail address in the appropriate field, so I can contact you in case you’re a winner. Winners are those that I like best, for some arbitrary reason I don’t even know about yet until I’ve read your comments. I am the jury and the judge but I’ll give you a fair trial after due consideration, or I’ll just flip coins if I can’t decide. Surprise me with something. I’m not looking for something specific, or merely praise or jokes. You could tell me your story, sing a song, draw a picture, record a video of yourself cracking a coconut, post a link to your blog, bribe me (hey, who knows?). Just keep it appropriate and PG13 rated, please. 😉

Deadline

I’ll give you time to post your comment for the remainder of the year, until midnight on December 31st. If in doubt I’ll consider your local time.

I very much enjoy the learning process, the pushing of boundaries (mine and yours and that of technology), having the freedom to pursue whatever is on my mind, to boldly program what no one has programmed before, and to write about what I've learned. Help me help you by browsing the products in the Learn Cocos2D Store.

    Hi,

I´d love to get a printed version, too. Just because I have been fan of this book since its early alpha days. In praise of this wonderful book I just rewrote the lyrics of a very famous song - I think you guess the original one 😉

    Cocos2D

When I find myself in programming trouble
His book always comes to me
Speaking words of wisdom for Cocos2d
And in my hour of coding darkness
it´s standing right in front of me
Speaking words of wisdom for Cocos2d
    Cocos2d, Cocos2d, Cocos2d, Cocos2d
Whisper words of wisdom for Cocos2d

And when the code is buggy
there is still a book that shines for me
    Shines until tomorrow for Cocos2d
I wake up from my notebook keboard
cause I coded all night long
    Always finding answers for Cocos2d

And when the broken lines of code
in my game still won´t compile
there will be an answer in his book on Cocos2d
For though it may be tricky
there is still a hint that I will see
in STEFFEN ITTERHEIM´s BOOK on COCOS2D!
    Cocos2d, Cocos2d, Cocos2d, Cocos2d
There will be an answer for problems in Cocos2d
    Cocos2d, Cocos2d, Cocos2d, Cocos2d
There will be an answer for problems in Cocos2d

    Merry Xcode,
    Marco

    To cut this one short;
My code skills are at the same level as your art skills. I enjoyed the pdf but I regret I didn’t get the paperback too.

Steffen, I would be forever Grateful if you gave me a copy of this book. I’ve been searching for months for books about iphone Cocos2d game development and until I saw this one, a valid publication seemed nonexistent. Over the past few months I have been teaching myself Objective-C and Cocoa and I want to add Cocos2d to that list. I don’t have much money so I can’t afford it myself. I didn’t get any gifts for Christmas and I am struggling to pay for college. I don’t even have my own mac, I just use my hard drive and USB disk mode at the schools computer lab or when a friend let’s me borrow their mac. My hope is that I can learn proper skills to help me reach the next level in iOS development. Hopefully I can come out with my first game in 2011. I follow your blog and I think this book can help me even more. I think that when you set out to write your book you did it for people like me, and that’s why I want it so badly. Thank you for reading.

Because i already bought 2 copies, but i didn’t get any.
    Here is why :
For some unexplained reason, Amazon shipped the books using special-super-express DHL service.
when the book “landed” in my country (Israel), DHL called me and told me that i need to pay them another 520NIS for the shipment.
    520NIS = $144.5 !!!!

when i told Amazon about it, they told me to make another order.. and hopefully this time it won’t happen, so that’s what i did… and guess what, it happened again!

DHL called me again, but this time after an argument they demanded “only” 330NIS, which is $92 !!!
So.. i had no choice but to pass.

The only way i can get this book is have someone private send it over to me, BUT in a very regular shipping service. (not DHL!!!).

if it will be you, and the book will be autographed… then my copy will have the most unique story behind it :) , and a definite win for Karma !

    Thanks,

Sorry for my eng bad. I am beginner game developer. When i was student i find lots of tutorial searched about cocos2d. Because My graduation project was iPhone Game. Why iPhone Game? Because i think it was new platform and favourite. before i never developed iphone apps it was hard for me. First i have to learn iPhone Programming and due date is coming. I watched Stanford university’s lecture and iPhone Programming tutorial. But this isn’t enough for iphone game programming. I have no idea for iPhone Game Programming. Our university’ computer science’s student divided team. Each team contains 4 members. The 2 people focused solve focused code, other two people find resource and documentation(I am coder ^^). Generally one or two people write code. The graduation due date remained 1 month + few days. I find iPhone Game Developing and i Found 71square.com. This blog contains lots of amazing tutorial. but this tutorial hard to learn because of language problem. My english is bad and i have no idea with opengles. OpenGL is hard to learn. Grade project Not started and i worried about this. One day my friend told me cocos2d iphone game engine. Then i research cocos2d. First i get raywenderlich.com. This blog contains lots of tutorial and easy to learn. After i watched youtube.com i get wransation. after that i collected lots of tutorial from another blog’s. then i started grade project. I think every developer happened those things. My game’s menu and sound menu effect easy to made. But game logic isn’t easy. Anyway i solved this problem with my friend (nergui and sugaraa). I made “Horse riding” game ^^. It is a nationality game. Every nationality have a own special game. I learned experince with cocos2d and iphone programming. I graduated my university about 6 months ago for Computer Science. Now i think i am iPhone Developer ^^.While that moment i get few favourite website. always I check those blog. Because Those blogs contains free tutorials, tools, source codes and always add news or new tutorial. The “Learn iPhone and iPad Cocos2d Game Development” is world first ebook for cocos2d i think :). All cocos2d Game Developer beginner interest this book. I searched cocos2d ebook from google then it showed me this book. Anyway Good luck for your job

I got the pdf some time ago when it was still an alpha book. You, your blogposts and the book has been a great helper for me ever since I started learning about game development earlier this year. I regret I didn’t get the paperback version too, it’s been worth every penny and your sites and the book is one of my favorite places to look for resources. I really enjoyed the pdf and I hope I get to enjoy the printed version too.
