No Starterkits for the time being!

I will take some time off to carefully consider my options.

I very much enjoy the learning process, the pushing of boundaries (mine and yours and that of technology), having the freedom to pursue whatever is on my mind, to boldly program what no one has programmed before, and to write about what I've learned. Help me help you by browsing the products in the Learn Cocos2D Store.

I also am surprised by the kerfuffle. Its pretty decent of you to take some time to figure out the best way to proceed before putting it on sale (if you still do put it on sale). What do you think of my affiliate idea? Riq could have a store and devs could make whatever tools they wanted, but Riq would get a cut? What would be a fair percentage?

Anyway, the site is terrific, good luck with the starterkit(s) and tutorials if you still plan on pursuing them. best, Codemattic.

Thank you, kind words like these keep me going at times like these. :)

I’m still collecting my thoughts. A good number of people help me with that and are very supportive, it’s great not to feel alone with my thoughts and insights. I will probably be posting just a long list of questions that i leave up for discussion. This is a matter way too important for the whole cocos2d community. It goes far beyond the matter at hand, to simply let it die down and then continue with business (?) as usual. But it should be discussed without me.

I’m a serious lurker on the Cocos2d forums and have been following the discussions. I have many reactions / comments but chose not to post any of them.

I think you should continue with whatever starter kits you have developed but increase the price by $50 - $100 each and CLEARLY state that “X” amount is going to help support @Riq / Cocos2d and then of course make the donations to @Riq (I’d even go so far as to list those donations on your site to prove to some people that you are in fact making donations and then perhaps they will STFU).

Clearly that would be a win-win
    :-)
